Italian Scores

EXCELLENT SCORES FOR ITALIAN WINERIES

Also this year, Italian wines have collected numerous awards. The most famous magazines in the sector, such as Wine Spectator or Gambero Rosso, have given our beloved wines incredible scores. For example, for Wine Spectator there are even 130 wineries that deserve the highest step of the podium for quality and relevance in the world market. From North to South each region has had wineries that have distinguished themselves in the wine scene.

It is a great source of pride for us because Italy continues to demonstrate excellence in the wine sector and every year obtains very high scores to prove it.

Ozzano Selection does not miss these wineries and many of them have achieved truly exceptional scores!

Let's start with Amedeo 2016 Lessini Durello Riserva from Ca 'Rugate which obtained 93 points on the Wine Enthusiast.

Ozzano Selection has been collaborating with this winery for many years now and the relationship that has arisen is undoubtedly one of the closest. Winery located in Montecchia di Crosara, in the province of Verona. His Lessini Durello is a classic method sparkling wine. The wine comes from a blend of 100% Durella. It has a fermentation in steel barrels and is subsequently bottled with the addition of yeasts.

It has a slight hint of croissant with hints of white peach. It is perfect with shellfish, during an aperitif with friends or with first courses.

The second winery we will talk about today is Tenuta Rocca, located in the rolling hills of Barolo, with three of its wines, respectively Barolo di Serralunga d'Alba DOCG 2017 with 90 points, Barolo DOCG 2017 with 90 points and Barolo DOCG Bussia 2017 with 93 points; all awarded by Wine Spectator.

And it is precisely de Barolo DOCG Bussia that we will talk about: During the ripening of the grapes we thin out the bunches to optimize the yield and then hand-select them before they undergo soft crushing. Selected yeasts that respect the fragrant aroma of the product are added to the must. At the end of temperature-controlled fermentation, the wine is drawn off and racked. The wine spends at least two years in oak barrels. It is then prepared for bottling and bottle refinement of up to a year before being released on the market, according to regulations, no sooner than the fourth year after the harvest.

Another respectable wine is Cantina Belisario's Verdicchio di Matelica DOCG Cambrugiano 2018. A winery based in Matelica in the province of Massa Carrara in Tuscany. The wine obtained the 3 glasses of Gambero Rosso.

It is the wine with which Belisario has experienced the greatest emotions.

It was the first Verdicchio in the “Riserva” category. Produced since 1988, and obtained only from Verdicchio grapes vinified by low-temperature maceration.

It is left to mature in steel and in toasted oak barrels for at least a year, and it ages for one more year in bottle. The complexity of the production reflects on the complexity of its organoleptic properties: the hills of the Marche region, the Mediterranean sun, floral aromas, vanilla, great texture, zesty, luscious and balanced. An ideal complement for elaborate seafood dishes, white meats,

semi-aged cheeses, strong main courses served at temperatures of around 15 ° C.
